Weekly Trash & Recycling Collection
All items must be inside the Waste Management issued containers. Each containers must be minimum of 3′ away from any object.
Pickup is scheduled for each Wednesday unless moved to Thursday in observance of the following holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- 4th of July
- Labor Day
- Christmas

Items accepted for weekly recycling
- All Papers (Newsprint / Phone Books / Magazines / Corrugate, etc.)
- Cardboard must be cut to fit in recycling container
- Glass (Beverage / Food Containers ONLY)
- Plastics #1-#7 (Food/Beverage/Shampoo Bottles, etc.)
- Tin/Aluminum (Food/Beverage Containers)
Monthly BUlk Waste Pickup
ONE ITEM PER MONTH
- Furniture including chairs, tables, armoire, cabinet, chest, headboard, sofa, mattress, dresser and interior door
- Gasoline powered snow blowers, non-riding lawn mowers, and hedge trimmers must be drained of all fluids
- Household appliances including washer, dryer, dishwasher, stove, toilet, refrigerator (freon must be removed), microwave, vacuum cleaner, hot water tank, etc.
- Carpeting – 8 bundle maximum – each bundle must be small enough to be handled by one person (must be cut into 4-foot bundles)
- Picnic table or bench (unattached), basketball board, or pool (6′ or less in height), swing set (disassembled)

Christmas Tree Removal
Waste Management will pick up Christmas trees with your regular weekly pick up until the end of January 2026.
Indiana Township will be collecting old Christmas trees on Monday, January 5, 2026.
- Please have all lights and decorations removed from the tree and at the curb by 7 a.m.
- Our public works crew will be around each street just once to pick up the trees. They may not finish all streets on Monday, but the routes will be determined by what is out on Monday morning. Unfortunately additional pickups cannot be added.
Yard Waste Pickup by Waste Management
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
*YOU MUST REGISTER 10 DAYS IN ADVANCE each month. Sign up below or call the Indiana Twp admin office 412-767-5333 Option 7. Please note, no yard waste collection during winter months.
WASTE MANAGEMENT GARBAGE MONTHLY YARD WASTE
The Township’s “Garbage Contract” enables residents to participate in a monthly yard waste pick up program. Yard waste is limited to leaves in biodegradable bags, garden residue, shrubbery trimmings, limbs, twigs, brush & tree trimmings, and similar material, but NOT including grass clippings.
All tree trimmings and limbs should be cut in lengths not over 48″ and securely bundled.
Each bundle shall not weigh more than 40 lbs. and individual limbs shall not be more than three inches in diameter.
Be sure to leave yard waste in a place that is VISIBLE for Waste Management drivers.
Do NOT place yard waste under trees, shrubs, or anywhere else the waste cannot be seen from the road.
Yard waste will be picked up only ONE scheduled garbage day per month during the period of April through November (dates above). The Township MUST be notified in advance of your desire to participate, EACH time, at least 10 days in advance. If you live on a private road, you must put your yard waste on the main road. Anyone who fails to notify the Township in time to be put on the list will not qualify for that month’s pickup.

Household Hazardous Waste

WM can pick up electronics, paints, chemicals, motor oil and more right from your home.
